The History of City Park: |
As native san Franciscans, the Leonoudakis family has proudly owned and operated City Park for over 50 years. So when City Park manages your property, a staff of seasoned professionals immediately puts decades of invaluable experience to work in your interest. But perhaps it is their dedication to providing the finest customer service in the industry that has made City Park the most successful, locally owned parking and transportation company in the Bay Area. |
It all began back in 1953, when brothers Nicholas and Stephan Leonoudakis opened their first parking lot in the produce section of the city, which is now known as Embarcadero Center. Soon it became evident that the Leonoudakis brothers had a vision for developing under-utilized properties into highly profitable parking facilities. |
During the '50s and 60's, City Park was asked by the City and County of San Francisco, as well as CalTrans, to develop a parking strategy that would help meet the parking demands generated by the rapid growth of the downtown area. In fact, City Park's work with CalTrans ultimately spearheaded the development of a number of parking lots in dormant, under-freeway area on the perimeter of downtown San Francisco. These lots have since become an integral part of downtown's parking supply. |

No stranger to solving even the most difficult parking challenges, City Park actively participated in the management and development of the San Francisco Airport Garage. Then in 1971, when the 49ers made Candlestick (Monster) Park their home, City Park was contracted to solve the problem of parking 18,000 cars in less than 4 hours. In 1994, the company teamed up with City of San Francisco to assist in the remodel of the 5th and Mission garage resulting in a prestigious, state-of-the-art facility and increased revenues of more than 20%. |
Over the Last 15 years, City Park has aligned itself as being the top provider of parking services for "Class A" properties. Through the alliance with these properties, our firm has contracted with the top office buildings and retail developments, hotels and high-end residential projects in San Francisco - many from the ground up. At the heart of City Park's success has been the ability to bring fresh ideas and an entrepreneurial approach to operating these facilities. City Park operates these facilities as if City Park owned them. |
Building on the excellence of their father's success, a second generation of Leonoudakis family members is dedicated to continuing the tradition of superior customer service and building the long term business relationships that lies at the heart of City Park's success. It is a heritage rich in personal integrity and professional experience, and it drives City Park's energetic vision of what parking and transportation services will be well into the 21st century. |
